Create Self Discipline by Playing by the Rules.
Whilst living life I always try to take lessons from everything that is around me. One that I have learnt recently relates with self discipline. Which I have found to be a very popular subject, as everyone is looking to keep themselves as disciplined as possible and believe it is the one thing holding them back from being a success. You’ll be glad to know it’s very simple, it is playing by the rules.
What rules?? You may say. Well that’s an easy answer aswell. YOURS. What rules would be easier to stick to than your own? Now I’m not saying you can make up a rule like, ” I will eat cake everyday”. As for obvious reasons it won’t get you anywhere, except maybe to the hospital. The rules you create have to directly relate to what you want to achieve in life. Thus by playing by the rules you’ll get to where you want to be. An example of a rule if lets say you wanted to be financially stable would be, “Put 30% of your monthly wage in a savings account”. This would make sense.
Now I know most people would like some guidance, maybe you don’t know what rules would have to be implemented to get to where you want to be. Well be like me and take inspiration from your life so far. A good place to start could be looking into books such as The Rules of Wealth: A Personal Code for Prosperity (The Rules Series) or The Rules of Life: A Personal Code for Living a Better, Happier, More Successful Kind of Life (The Rules Series)
.
Now writing these rules down and not sticking to them would be useless. So you have to treat these rules with as much seriousness as you would with the law. You don’t want to be in jail, and you shouldn’t want to be unsuccessful. By knowing why you are following these rules (unlike some of laws implemented by the government, which people will follow without a word), you will begin to see it as common sense to follow these rules, which will then turn into habits. Habits mean you won’t even need to think about these rules, they will just become second nature, therefore giving you the discipline you’ve always wanted. Easy

“Discipline is remembering what you want.”
This post is close to heart, as it’s an obstacle I’ve had to go through over and over again. Remembering why your doing what your doing.
Let me just be the first to let you know that it isn’t all rainbows and flowers when making your way through life. Times get tough whether your following your dreams or not (so you might aswell follow your dreams if thats the case). Put simply life isn’t as straight forward as you’d like it to be. However saying this life is a gift and should be taken as nothing less.
When these tough times do occur, you’ll want to scream, moan, shout, cry. Once you’ve done these things your then left with the same problem. What I have personally found to be the best way of getting out of a tough situation is to remember. Remember why your doing what your doing. Remember why you love life. Remember why you haven’t given up in the past. Remember where you want to be in the future. Just remember!
For me it took someone to tell me why I’m doing what I’m doing… they helped me remember. I know that next time I face a tough situation or feel bad, I’ll remember why I’m doing what I’m doing and where it will take me. This alone will not only help with overall happiness but help me push harder. Next time you get any of these feelings just take a minute to relax and remember (R&R).

The Art of Positivity, Part II

Let your mind shine
Following on from the last post on thought effects and perspective. I decided that giving out 3 useful tips to help you keep a positive outlook would come in handy.
I want to keep it short and simple, making it easier to follow.
- See life from different points of view.
In life it helps to be open minded, it can give you answers and understanding. A way to do this is through different view points (also known as framing), it gives you the opportunity to escape from your normal way of thinking.
- Have a sense of humour, especially when its regarding ones self.
This is a big part of what keeps me positive, being able able to make a bad situation funny. It may be that you are a salesman (I once was), working outside in stormy conditions(I once did), and you make no money(100% commission can have it’s downfalls). Managing to have a day like that and make a joke of it, seperates you from the crowd. Its humour which can keep you going through tough situations and pull through okay.
- Keep the positive in front of you…even if you have to write it
Most people are quick to forget all the things they’ve accomplished and all the fun they’ve had when something goes wrong. Writing down all of your accomplishments no matter how big or little, can keep you from forgetting them. Remember there was once a time when you couldn’t walk and found it an accomplishment to take a few steps. Now people will get angry with themselves if they can’t solve all their problems in life. I know some successful people who keep journals of their accomplishments, even with all their success they still write down their little accomplishments and are just as proud.
Have a go for yourself if you feel you need to. These exercises never need to end, as they can be continuously improved on over life.

You are neither too old or young
I have heard many people in their late 20’s say to me that they are too old to do certain things that only ‘young’ people should do. I have also noticed that a lot of young people in their teens and early 20’s limit themselves to a selection of experiences because they associate certain actions and behaviours to be that of an adult
That’s the great thing about the way of kaizen. You can never be too old or young to improve your life. You could be an affluent individual but your work consumes quite a bit of your social life so you can make improvements to adjust your schedule to make more time for family and friends. On the other hand you could be struggling to pay bills and be in debt, you can still improve your situation by looking over your cash flow and cutting down on unnecessary expenditure to save your self more stress.
As long as you have dreams and goals you can always spend time in a day to continuously improve yourself and your situation to eventually achieve the things you set out to do. The way of kaizen can be applied to your life no matter what circumstances you may face. There are endless possibilities for every individual alive to make improvements in their life.

Dare to Dream
Some men see things as they are and say, “Why?” I dream of things that never were and say, “Why not?” George Bernard Shaw
What is it about dreaming that can give a person the reason to make a success of themselves? Everyone knows how they would like their life to turn out, images of pleasing family and close friends, visiting places they’ve always wanted to, and having a some what exciting life, come to mind. Success comes from a desire to succeed, a burning desire is the result of peoples wants and needs which have built up.
Realising your dreams and giving them time can reward you. Giving yourself time at the beggining or end of the day to create vivid dreams and giving them personal detail, not only gives you a path to strive towards but can also improve your outlook on life. If you know where your going your more likely to get there. If you got in your car without a destination you’d just drive around aimlessly, however if you have a destination you can find the quickest and easiest route to get there. So let your dreams be your destination and your imagination your vehicle.
Some tips:
- Make your dreams vivid, give them colour, smell, sound, feel. Give your senses something to grasp on to. Remember what ever the mind can percieve it can achieve.
- Picture’s can help remind you about them during the day, giving you that extra boost when you may start slacking off during the day. A good idea is have a picture sheet, with pictures that remind you about your dream, and carry it around with you.
- Give yourself time each day to think about your dreams, usually a quiet place is best.
- Keep a list of your goals in places you frequently visit to remind you of why you work hard everyday e.g. On your fridge door, next to your PC monitor, inside the clear pocket of your wallet/purse, on the inside of your front door.
Made popular byThe Secret, this way of thinking can produce some amazing results.

Yes You Can

Believe
Visiting this website should be because you want to be successful, or maybe you have personal goals, and skills you would like to achieve. These reasons alone show that you believe in yourself and your abilities
A good starting point for the foundation of your success is BELIEF. You must believe that you have what it takes to achieve your goals. You must believe that no matter the obstacles you face along your journey through life, you can overcome them by any means necessary to achieve your goal.
Do not question whether you have what it takes to accomplish goals you have set out. By doubting yourself you are immediately decreasing your chance of success, increasing the possibility of failure.
A friend of mine, Marcus, left home at, what most would consider to be, a young age. People thought he was not ready to go out in to the real world and be able to handle the pressures of reality. Marcus lived life everyday oblivious to the opinions of others because no one believed in his own abilities more than himself. He knew that with the skills, mindset and passion he had within him, he could achieve everything he ever planned to do in his entire life. At this moment of time he is running his first electronics store which is proving to be quite successful.
What we can learn not only from this story but stories all around the world is that it all starts with belief. Whatever the mind can believe it can then achieve. So don’t prove to others, but prove to yourself that you have that belief instilled in your abilities and you will go far.
